The short version: Chapter does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Your reading history lives on your device and, if you choose, in your personal iCloud account.
What data Chapter stores
Everything you do in Chapter is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This includes:
- Your books — titles, authors, cover images, progress, ratings
- Reading sessions — duration and date
- Reading goals and reminders
- Collections and reader preferences
None of this data is sent to me or any external server. I have no access to your library or reading habits.
iCloud sync
If you are signed into iCloud on your device, Chapter will automatically sync your data across your devices using Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. I have no access to your iCloud data.
You can disable iCloud sync for Chapter at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud.
Purchases
Chapter Pro is offered as an auto-renewable subscription (monthly or yearly) processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. I never see or store your payment information. Subscription and purchase records are managed by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Notifications
If you enable daily reading reminders, Chapter requests permission to send local notifications. These notifications are generated entirely on your device — no data leaves your device in relation to notifications.
Analytics and tracking
Chapter contains no analytics, crash reporting, or any third-party tracking SDKs. I do not know how you use the app.
Children's privacy
Chapter does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Since no personal data is collected, the app is safe for all ages.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, I will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
